An urge is a thought that drives us to do something with overwhelming urgency. Whether you binge, purge, restrict — or, as is common, a combination of all three — it all starts with an urge. Many things trigger an urge. Most often, it’s because we have unmet physical or emotional needs. This often includes a history of restrictive dieting or eating less than your body needs.
